TIRES SLASHED: A Davis Avenue resident told police at 1:07 a.m. Thursday his vehicle’s tires had been slashed. There were no suspects.

SEVERAL CHARGES: Police arrested and booked a Division Street resident at 1:12 a.m. Thursday on drug charges and driving with a suspended license. It also was discovered the suspect had an outstanding arrest warrant.

CONCERN FOR KIDS: Caregivers for a local woman’s children expressed their concern to police Thursday that a subject who has become combative has contact with the kids. The subject, who was said to have a felony warrant for his arrest, was believed to be living in a van belonging to the children’s mother.

TRESPASSING: Officers responded the afternoon of April 13 to a McDougall Avenue address after hearing of an unwanted person on school property. The individual, a former student, was taken into custody, transported to the police station and released to his stepfather.

WARNING GIVEN: Police were told the afternoon of April 13 of an impaired driver. Witnesses observed impaired driving and told police the female motorist was headed west on Griffin Avenue. Police found the woman at a residence on High Point Street. She had already exited the vehicle and was warned about her behavior.

VEHICLE PROWLS: A Ward Court resident called police the morning of April 12, reporting items were taken from a vehicle the night before. No damage was done to the vehicle but the missing items were valued at approximately $500. Some of the items were soon found. Police heard of a second case of prowling, that one at an Almadon Street resident. Police learned that a neighbor had seen someone going from car to car early in the morning, but assumed it was a newspaper carrier. The possible suspect was thought to be driving a black, four-door sedan.

MAIL THEFT: A Battersby Avenue resident told police April 12 mail had been stolen during the weekend. Checks, in large sums, had been expected. It was unclear if mail had actually been taken, but extra police patrol was requested.

MISCHIEF: A Porter Street resident requested extra police patrol April 12 because food had been thrown on a vehicle the night before. It was the second such instance in two weeks.

TWO CHARGED: While on routine patrol shortly after 9 p.m. April 12, an officer initiated a traffic stop. One person in the vehicle was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and released. A second person was cited for driving under the influence.

DRUG ARREST: Officers initiated a drug investigation after hearing of a strong smell of marijuana coming from a Watson Street apartment. The tenant allowed police to search the unit and a man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, taken to the police station and booked.

NO BURNING: While on a routine check of an area known to be frequented by runaway juveniles, an officer came upon a group of eight. Each was checked and found to be OK, but their illegal fire was extinguished by the fire department.

UTILITY TROUBLE: A McHugh Avenue resident told police April 10 of a line hanging low over the street. An officer notified the cable provider and, due to the hazard the line created, disconnected the line and coiled it near a pole.

UNSAFE DRIVING: Police were alerted at 9:40 p.m. April 10 to a possibly-intoxicated driver traveling eastbound on Roosevelt Avenue. An officer located the driver who had not been drinking, but was attempting to read a map.

THEFT CALL: An officer responded to a Watson Street address the morning of April 9 in response to a theft call that turned out to be a property dispute involving a bicycle. The officer wound up taking the bike, as neither person could prove ownership.

MONEY MISSING: A citizen went to the police April 9, complaining that a second person had cleaned out a joint bank account, closed the account and disappeared. Police reviewed appropriate documents and determined it was a civil matter, as both people had legal authority to make transactions.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: A Myrtine Street resident reported at 10:22 p.m. April 9 someone had fired shots into two windows. Police determined a BB gun had been fired into her double-pane windows and the BBs broke one pane but not the other. The victim heard a car leave the area but was unable to get a description.
