Years of collecting antiques resulted in a second career for Sharon Porter.
After retiring from Boeing following 30 years of employment, Porter only had to look at the stocked shelves of her Buckley home to provide inventory for Porter Antiques. The Enumclaw business opened May 1 at 1219 Initial Ave., just a half-block west of Cole Street.
Porter’s small shop is home to no particular specialty, though there certainly are examples of her fascination with pottery, dolls and paintings.
Porter has been a regular visitor to antique stores for 30 years and has experience selling on eBay, but the Enumclaw shop is her first venture in private enterprise. Her daughter first spotted the Initial Avenue vacancy and prodded Porter to make the leap. Now, she’s a one-woman show, except for one other who stocks a corner of the shop with her items in exchange for working one day a week.
Porter Antiques is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; the shop is open Sunday by appointment only and is closed Mondays. Porter can be reached by calling 360-625-8357.
