The Enumlclaw Expo Center will be given over to the annual Olympic Kennel Club dog show the rest of this week, bringing top-flight canines of all breeds to the Plateau.

Thursday and Friday are reserved for specialty clubs  – sporting groups on Thursday and toy breeds on Friday – while Saturday and Sunday feature the large, all-breed shows.

An OKC spokeswoman said there will be thousands of dogs visiting the Expo Center grounds during the run of the show. Thursday is expected to attract perhaps 800 animals, with another 300 on Friday. Saturday’s all-breed show should feature 2,400 dogs with perhaps 2,300 on Sunday.

The public is welcome to attend any of the shows, which begin at 8 a.m. daily. Admission is free but there’s a $5 parking fee.

Most dog owners enjoy talking about their breeds and there will be vendors selling pet-related items.

The Olympic Kennel Club will make a number of special presentations Saturday afternoon. Included will be recognition of Enumclaw resident Janine Prindle who, for years, headed Guide Dogs for the Blind, a group responsible for training puppies that eventually serve people with sight problems. Prindle, now legally blind, has a dog of her own.

The Olympic Kennel Club was formed in 1944 and hosted its annual show at a number of sites before moving to Enumclaw in 1974.
