Super-volunteer Steve Britton will reign as grand marshal Saturday morning when the Log Show parade makes its way along Buckley’s Main Street.
The annual event, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, kicks off two days of fun in Buckley. The parade gets rolling at 10 a.m.
Chamber president Richard Ridge said those lining the street will see the traditional lineup of logging trucks, school entries and more.
Following the parade and before heading to the Log Show grounds for the excitement of competition, everyone can head to River Avenue and the block-long row of vendors offering food and drink, services, gadgets and games.
Ridge said the list of vendors has jumped significantly since last year. In 2011, the event attracted 58 vendors and, as of last week, 75 had registered.
Britton has made a name for himself on both sides of the White River since moving to Buckley just two years ago. A self-described “small-town boy,” Britton is pleased to have landed in a cozy community after retiring and fleeing the urban sprawl of Houston, Texas.
Britton can be found every weekend changing the reader board along state Route 410 and has volunteered for other duties with both the chamber and the city. His willingness to help has expanded to Enumclaw, where he has been involved with the annual street fair and events at the Expo Center.
