Here was Enumclaw girls individual results.
124 Jaelen Hobert wrestled 5 matches in route to a co-5th placing with fellow teammate Kristen Green. Jaelen won her 1st match by fall Harlie Raucher of Franklin Pierce 3 minutes into the 2nd round. Then she lost in the 2nd round to eventual champion Cassidy Meyers of Kentwood by fall 45 seconds into the 1st round. Then she won 2 matches in consolation to make it to her 5th match of the day and wrestled Raelyn Diaz of Orting and lost by fall 50 seconds into the 1st round and ended up co-5th. This was a good tournament for Jaelen because she got lots of mat time and each minute she spent on the mat her confidence and skill grew. She is doing well and I wouldn’t be surprised if she meets Diaz later this year with the opportunity to advance through regionals and make it to state.
124 Kristen green also wrestled 5 matches and was co-5th at 124. Both Kristen and Jaelen are working to figure out who will be 118 and 124 at the end of the season for the team. Kristen started off with a win by fall in the 3rd round over Jillian Strickland of Federal Way before losing to Jordan Bartleson of Puyallup (runner-up) by fall in the 3rd round. Then Kristen advance through the consolation bracket to finally wrestle ShaRaya Quinn of Emerald Ridge for co-3rd and ended up losing by fall in the 3rd round at the 4:44 mark in the match. Kristen is starting to gain more confidence in her abilities each match. Today she wrestled tough and fought hard to earn her way to the co-3rd match. However, she was tired and ended up losing in the consolation final match.
145 Raquel Cormier wrestled at 145. She lost in her first match to Kylie Norton of White River by fall, then came back in the consolation bracket to end up wrestling for co-3rd as well. She lost in her final consolation match to Faith Grahamm of Franklin Pierce 11-3 to take co-5th. Raquel is working to get to her 137 weight class. After the new year, she will be in her weight class and will be more comfortable with the girls she will face.
155 Ally Smith. Ally wrestled and lost by fall in 30 seconds in the first round to Bayley McComb of Fife before having to withdrawl from the tournament due to illness.
155 Danielle Cormier wrestled 155 for probably the last time this year. Danielle weighed in at 146 and is working hard to get to her weight class by the 2nd half of the year. Danielle won her first match by fall in 1 minute over Jamie Meagher of White River. Then lost by fall in her semi-final match to Luaipou Lologo of Federal Way in 3:30 into the 2nd round. Then Danielle wrestled her way back to take co-3rd by beating Lizzy Jimenez of Rogers of Puyallup 15-8 in the finals consolation bracket. Danielle did a good job of recovering after losing in the semi-finals. She came back and wrestled hard to end the day on a positive note. She will be at the 145lb weight class during the second 1/2 of the season.
KC Moulden won the 235 pound weight class by pinning all 3 of her opponents in the first round to win her first SPSL Championship. In her first match she pinned Kaitlin Torbergson of fife in 1:15 in the first round. Then she pinned Hannah Lewandowski of White River in 1:20 in the first round. Then she won her final match by cradling and pinning Matasua Launiurao of Mount Rainier in 1:27 to win the championship. KC looked good all day. She is working on improving her takedowns and riding of her opponents.
Our next scheduled match is 1/5 at Kelso Tournament.
