Families in Enumclaw and Buckley will be able to enjoy a safe and fun Halloween downtown this year thanks to their chambers of commerce.

The Enumclaw and Buckley chambers will each host trick-or-treating in their downtown shopping centers from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Enumclaw’s Cole Street will be closed from Marshall Avenue to Stevenson Avenue, with the exception of Griffin Avenue, which will remain open. Barricades will go up at 3:45 p.m. and remain up through 6:15 p.m.

Also in Enumclaw, Hope Lutheran Church will present a free Halloween carnival for the community – and promises nothing spooky or scary.

The event is for preschoolers through elementary school-age children, along with their parents. There will be games, prizes, treats, snacks and candy. There will be a bouncy house for the smaller children and hot coffee for adults.

The church is at 1316 Garfield St., across from Montgomery Park.

In Buckley, kids should be sure to check out some of the businesses on the side streets off Main Street, which will be decorated with corn stalk light poles and spider webs. As an added feature, drama students from White River High School will be in costume, wandering through downtown. Some will be representing businesses not located on Main Street while the rest entertain the crowd of kids. Also, families should make sure they stop by for hot chocolate and cider at Thunderbird Park.
