It was close, but the White River High girls tennis team dropped its second South Puget Sound League 3A match of the season, 3-2 to Sumner March 23.
The Hornets, 1-2 overall for the season, were scheduled to face Franklin Pierce in league action Thursday, but were rained out.
Against Sumner, Hornet Rachael Hoflack won her No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-3. Teammate Morgan Wilson, in the No. 2 singles position, lost her opening match 6-1, but came back to win the next two, 6-3, 6-2 for the victory.
In doubles action, Haley Havelock and Courtney Hall got the upper
hand on Taylor Henken and Kyla Anderson with a 6-3 opening-set win, but the Spartans staged an impressive rally to win the next two and the match.
