A pair of Seattle basketball celebrities were at Emerald Downs this week to promote the upcoming EmD3-ON-3 to be held August 10-11 in the track’s north parking lot.

Aaron Brooks of the Houston Rockets and former University of Washington great Eldridge Recasner took part in promotional videos that air this weekend on Root Sports, include several airings during the Mariners-Yankees games.

“Seattle is the Mecca of basketball on the West Coast,” said Brooks, a graduate of Seattle’s Franklin High and the NBA’s Most Improved Player in 2009-10. “I want to show support for this event any way I can do it.”

A three-time All Pac-10 guard and founder of the Eldridge Recasner Basketball Academy, Recasner said EmD3-ON-3 complements the area’s strong infatuation with basketball.

“Anything that involves Ron Crockett and Emerald Downs is going to be a first-rate production,” Recasner said. “Any way I can help, either with commercials or posting flyers at my camp, I’m on board with it.”

EmD3-ON-3 is open to teams and players of all ages and abilities. Cost is $120 per team, with each team guaranteed at least three games. The games will be played on at least 30 side-by-side half-courts in the parking lot north of the grandstand.
