White River High was planning to take seven golfers from its boys team into the second round of play Tuesday at Gold Mountain Golf Complex in Bremerton.
Trevor Lubking, Kohl Kaelin, Trever Anderson, Ryne Peterson, Tanner Sherstobitoff, Zahn Brooks and freshman Ryan Kolisch, who won the junior varsity qualifier Oct. 12, will tee off trying to earn one of a handful of direct berths into the Class 2A state tournament in May. The second group of top golfers will get another chance to make the state tournament at the spring qualifier.
The Hornets closed out the first round of play at the South Puget Sound League 2A state qualifying Thursday in fourth place.
The Lady Hornets face the same scenario. Tia Johnson, Caitlyn Miller and Drew McCarthy tied for fourth place and were also expected to hit the fairways Tuesday; look for results at www.courierherald.com.
Johnson carded back-to-back birdies to finish 15th. McCarthy sits in 19th and Miller is 23rd.
