A trailer fire near Enumclaw Tuesday morning resulted in a man being airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He reportedly suffered burns to much of his body and was listed in critical condition.

Enumclaw Fire Department/District 28 responded to the call, which was reported at 4:43 a.m.

The fire was in the 26800 block of Southeast 416th Street in unincorporated King County.

Reports of an explosion immediately preceding the fire led to a King County Sheriff’s Department deputy going to the location. The deputy stood by until the fire was out and fire investigators arrived. The first fire investigator arrived at 6:15 AM.

According to a press release issued by the Sheriff’s Department, “The cause of the fire has not been determined. There is no information that there was a meth lab at the location.”

Enumclaw Fire Chief Joe Clow said the 16-foot travel trailer was a complete loss. There was some charring to an adjacent wood pile, he said, but a nearby home was not damaged. The victim, Clow said, was in the home when emergency crews arrived.

The home reportedly belongs to a relative.
