I am still amazed by the staunch Republicans’ stance that everything their elected representatives do is right and everything the Democrats do is wrong. They have the ability to totally ignore the fact that it was their party that got us into the mess that we are in. It was Reagan that started us down the road to deficit spending with, at the time, the largest deficit in the history of or country. That deficit was only added to by the first Bush but was actually being paid off by the Clinton administration. Of course when the second Bush took over he immediately declared the paying down of the debt a surplus and cut taxes (mostly for the wealthy) and started marching us down the road to the mess we have today.

Where were these budget balancers when Bush was spending, spending, spending and not even including two wars in the budget. Where were these whiners when the Republicans held up tax cuts for the middle class unless the cuts were extended for the super wealthy, too. If anyone would take the time to listen to liberal talk radio you would find that a lot of those commentators can be just as hard on the Democrats as they are on Republicans, but if you listen to the other side they never have anything bad to say about what their party is doing. That is the difference between informative radio and propaganda radio.

I sometimes wonder why I even bother to take the time to write because the people that need this information are so used to listening to the lies that the Republicans tell and telling them often enough that they become the truth in their eyes.

Regarding birthplace and qualification for president, there is more question about whether John McCain is a “natural born citizen” then there is about Obama, but that is just another example of the lie that just keeps on being told. Obama’s birthplace has been certified by and attested to by so many people that it is becoming ridiculous and still the “birthers” insist it’s not enough. I think most people in this country would consider themselves conservative if that means balancing the budget and taking care of our own first, but there is very little about the current Republican Party that could be thought of as conservative. What their goal seems to be is to bankrupt the federal government so it cannot protect its citizens from poverty and want; it seems that what they want this country to be made up of is a very few super wealthy and the rest of us living in poverty and squalor. But, then, to them, that would be what we deserve.
