Tyler Salsbury captured the South Puget Sound League 3A Medalist Tournament title Oct. 19 at Gold Mountain Golf Complex in Bremerton and locked up one of five spots into May’s Class 3A boys golf tournament.

Salsbury followed up his first round 66 with a 70 for a two-day, 8-under par total of 136. His performance, in addition to his season-long play, earned the junior his third straight SPSL 3A Golfer of the Year title. Hornet teammate Tim Livermore will join him at state. Livermore finished fourth at 73 and 79 for 152.

Kurt Kindsvater, sixth, Colton McClusky, seventh, David Smith, ninth, Chase Dolliver, 10th, and Dylan Kleist, 12th, will advance to the spring West Central District state-qualifying tournament to play for the final state berths.

Kelly Sweeney, Tiffany Wilkening and Janie Francis earned a tee time at the girls Class 3A state tournament in May.

Sweeney finished third with a two-day total of 162, 80 and 82. Wilkening was right behind in fourth following up her Round 1 score of 84 with a 92 for a 176 total. Francis finished fifth with matching 89s for 178.

Molly Roe, sixth, Claire Hinman, seventh, Kaylin Podolak, ninth, and Madeline Petellin, 10th, will get another chance to qualify for state during the West Central District tournament in May.

Enumclaw’s girls and boys earned the team trophy and the academic team crown as well.

White River

White River High senior Tia Johnson finished 13th to make the Class 2A spring qualifying tournament cut. She finished with a two-day stoke total of 208 after shooting 100 on Day 2.

Teammate Caitlyn Miller finished 19th and will serve as the fourth alternate to the spring tournament.

After a sudden-death playoff, Trever Anderson and Ryne Peterson will serve as first and third alternates respectively into the spring state-qualifying tournament for the White River boys team.

Anderson shot an 97 the first day and 87 for day two to finish at 184 for 14th place. Peterson will serve as an alternate. He finished with a two-day total of 186.
