23 year-old Nathaniel G. Hemminger was killed in a collision Sunday in west Thurston County. At 2:18 p.m. state troopers were dispatched to a one-vehicle collision on State Route 8 west of Olympia.

Troopers determined 25-year-old Heather M. Rood was driving a 2003 Honda Civic eastbound on State Route 8 at milepost 17. Rood left the roadway near the off ramp to Winslow Road and struck a tree. The vehicle rotated around and came to rest on its top.

A 2- year-old boy was in a car seat behind Logan and was also uninjured. Rood sustained minor injuries and is being treated at St. Peters hospital in Olympia.

This collision is still under investigation. A blood draw was administered and Rood’s blood will be analyzed. All the occupants were wearing seatbelts.
