Enumclaw High School closed out its 2010-11 season with its annual Buzzy Awards, a review in numbers, and a preview of its 2011-12 lineup.

According to teacher and director Darrell Miller, this year, 53 students took EHS’s Acting 1-2 course; 28 students enrolled in Stagecraft and Production; 25 students were directly involved with the fall play “Zombie Town;” 41 students were directly involved with the January One Acts which featured three original plays by students and alumni; 10 students were involved with the Enumclaw Middle School musical “Wonder in Aliceland,” which also featured more than 50 EMS students; 85 students were involved with the spring musical “The Drowsy Chaperone;” and 28 students were involved with the May play “The Tempest,” which toured around the district to more than 1,100 students under the age of 15.

“All told,” Miller noted. “We served more than 13,000 audience members this year.”

The EHS drama department kicks off its 2011-12 lineup with the fall show “Dracula” by Bram Stoker for Halloween.

January marks the return of the One Acts and the spring musical will be “Les Misérables,” now celebrating its 25th year. In May, the troupe will be producing “The House at Pooh Corner,” featuring Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit and all the other classic characters. Again, Miller plans to take the May show on tour through the elementary schools.
