Huskies and Sounders
Football in the Northwest can mean action on the gridiron or on the pitch. This weekend in Seattle, both are happening.
- It’s a Saturday night special when UW takes on Cal at 8 p.m. at Husky Stadium. If you’ve going to the game, you get to leave the driving to Metro by taking a shuttle. As always, they’ll be a purple haze of Dawg fans leading up to kickoff, which will cause some delay around Seattle’s University District. Whether you’re heading to the action or just passing through, give yourself some extra time.
- Scarves up! The Seattle Sounders FC close out the regular season with a packed house and visit from the L.A. Galaxy at CenturyLink Field at 6 p.m., Sunday Oct. 27. In anticipation of additional traffic heading into SoDo, we’ve adjust the I-90 express lanes for westbound travelers. If you’re like me and heading to the match, be sure to leave early. Need help finding parking? Check out this nifty page that shows available lots with cheap rates. Go Sounders!
Carpooling with “Mr. Safety”
Commuters who buddy up and use the carpool or High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes usually find their trips to be quicker and more reliable than going solo in the general purpose lanes. HOV lanes also help make our highways run more efficiently by taking about 20 percent of vehicles off the roadway. While regular carpoolers are the envy of every office and known as the “cool kids,” imitators who dress-up inanimate objects are known by other names and if caught receive a $124 ticket from the Washington State Patrol.
