Kretz Racing LLC’s three-year-old Saint Lemone, a California-bred daughter of Lemon Drop Kid-Saintly Slumber, by Saint Ballado, bred by Al and Sandee Kirkwood, won a $20,000 maiden claiming race at the Los Alamitos Thoroughbred meet by 1 1/2 lengths on July 11.
The following day at the Southern California track, two-year-old Dr. Vincentstein finished second in a maiden special weight race in his first outing. Dr. Vincentstein, who races for Tarilyn Anderson, is a Washington-bred son of Delineator-Marquet Formula, by Marquetry, bred by Jean M.G. Welch and her Tall Cedars Farm LLC.
John and Janene Maryanski’s consistent Rocky’s Best took his eighth Emerald Downs victory, and ninth win over all, when he went gate-to-wire to take a mile allowance/$25,000 optional claiming race by 3 3/4 lengths over the always tough Polish Dollar. Bred in Kentucky by Northwest Farms LLC, the gray/roan gelding by Rockport Harbor out of stakes-placed Silver Echo, by Eastern Echo, has earned $126,099.
