The White River High soccer program has a new man at the top but plenty of familiar faces on the field.
Charlie Carlier, who served as an assistant the past two seasons and guided the Hornet junior varsity, has taken over the program. He inherits a team that finished 3-5 in South Puget Sound League 3A play and went 7-8 overall a season ago.
The Hornet roster includes seniors Olivia Phillips and Ariana Huthmacher, juniors Morgan Brown and Nicole Partlow and fellow returnees Cassidy France Lexie Wesner, Chloe Sharp, Ashley Powell and Hannah Rhodes. Newcomers rounding out the early-season varsity roster include Alex Fiedler, Amber Inderbitzin, Jillian Keane, Kinsey Gandal and Morgan Clough. Carlier will have a freshman in goal, with Kathryn Timmerman and Kylie Englebert battling for the starting job.
The sophomore-heavy Hornet squad will get its first taste of action Saturday at a jamboree hosted by Sumner High School. Playing on the turf of Sunset Chev Stadium, White River will take on Federal Way and Thomas Jefferson, a pair of Class 4A teams.
