Enumclaw High School recently announced its 2010-11 performance schedule as well as an invitation to students, staff and alumni to submit a play for performance.

According to EHS teacher Darrell Miller, the play should have one to 10 actors and an approximate run time of 30 minutes, about 35 pages. Scripts are due to Miller by 2:30 p.m. Oct. 15. Miller said entries will be read anonymously by the One-Act Panel and three will be chosen to receive a full production in January with directors, designers, actors and a budget.

Each audience member will receive three poker chips with their ticket at the box office. Three boxes will be placed in the lobby corresponding with each individual show. Each night, following the three performances, audience members may place their chips in the box they determine to be their favorite. The play with the most chips at the end of the two-week run will win prizes for its actors, production team and writer.

Enumclaw High begins its production season with “Zomie Town,” a piece conceived by Miller and choreographed by graduate Amanda Kelly. “Zomie Town” opens Oct. 21 and runs through Oct. 30 at the EHS auditorium. It combines dance, dialogue and music to tell a story about two opposing cultures.

The spring musical choice is 2006 Tony Winner “The Drowsy Chaperone,” with music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, based on the book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar. Performances will take place March 10-19.

EHS closes out its schedule May 12-21 with William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest.
