Friends and family will host a three-day benefit sale for Melanie Christianson July 23, 24 and 25 at KenMar Farms, 44110 239th Ave. S.E., Enumclaw.

Christianson, a 28-year-old Enumclaw High School and Central Washington University graduate, and her horse Lady were in an accident June 12 while competing at a show in Sequim, Wash. According to her Web site, www.melaniechristianson.com, she broke vertebrae in her neck and has months of recovery ahead.

Christianson, who works for the Federal Aviation Administration, has trained and competed with Lady for many years, winning numerous awards and honors.

Garage sale items are being collected between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. July 21 and July 22 and volunteers to help out are needed. Contact Lia Carlile at cra8z4him@centurytel.net. Items may be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The sale takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 23 and 24 and noon to 4 p.m. 25. A silent auction and raffle for one ton of alfalfa will take place Sunday only.

“For those of you who know Mel, you know she’s feisty, sarcastic, driven and generous,” friend Cheyenne Tila wrote in an e-mail. “For those of you who don’t know Mel, it isn’t hard to see the big heart in this little cowgirl. She’s a fighter and she’ll definitely ‘fight like a girl’ on her road to recovery.”
