Aside from the religious significance, Easter provides plenty of opportunities for family fun. Activities will be spread throughout the Plateau later this week to keep kids and adults entertained. Here are some of the possibilities.

Downtown Enumclaw

Easter egg hunts aren't just for kids, and a popular "adult only" version will again have searchers scrambling through the lawn and bushes at the Enumclaw library Saturday night.

The Adult Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt, an annual production of the Enumclaw Downtown Partnership, gets rolling at 9 p.m. Volunteers have stuffed about 1,200 plastic eggs, mostly with jelly beans; some, however, contain gift certificates to downtown businesses and the person finding a special golden egg will receive $50 in Downtown Dollars, which can be redeemed at any participating merchant.

The EDP event is for those 18 and older and participants are asked to provide a can of food for the Enumclaw Food Bank.

An interesting feature is the head start given to those who shop downtown Enumclaw on Saturday. Anyone showing a receipt for $5 or more, dated April 19, moves to the front of the pack and gets a healthy jump on the rest of the searchers.

At the Fairgrounds

Mount Rainier Christian Center presents its fifth annual Eggstravaganza community Easter egg hunt from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the King County Fairgrounds. The group provides approximately 30,000 eggs, plus plenty of activities, and it's all free.

Infants through 17-year-olds can search for eggs and win prizes.

Buckley

An Easter egg hunt for children of the community is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Buckley Eagles on state Route 410.

The Eagles will have space divided for a variety of age groups.

Wilkeson

A community Easter egg hunt for children will take place at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Wilkeson Elementary School, sponsored by Wilkeson Eagles Aerie #1409. There will be prizes in several age categories and the Easter Bunny will be on hand for photos.

All are invited to a no-host breakfast at the Eagles served from 9 to 11 a.m. The cost for the all-you-can-eat breakfast is $5 for adults and $2 for children.

The event was made possible through donations by Wilkeson Grocery, the Pick and Shovel, Eagle Tavern and the Carbonado Saloon.

Black Diamond

The Community Center will sponsor an Easter breakfast (either pancakes, ham and eggs or biscuits and sausage gravy) from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday. Cost is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $3 for kids. There will be activities for kids and raffles for Easter baskets.

Also in Black Diamond, a flashlight Easter egg hunt, for the entire family, is being sponsored by the Gun Club. Gates will open at 6 p.m. Friday, across from Cadman on state Route 169. Admission cost is a canned food donation for the Enumclaw Food Bank.
