South Puget Sound League 3A boys swimming and diving fired up again Thursday with Enumclaw High posting a 134-52 win over Bonney Lake.
The Hornets, 3-1 in league, were scheduled to face Sumner Tuesday; results came too late to include here. The team will travel to North Thurston Tuesday.
Enumclaw jumped to the early lead over BoNney Lake, taking first and second place in the 200-yard medley relay.
EHS’s Zach Petersen won the 200 freestyle in 2 minutes, 12.77 seconds with Bonney Lake’s Cody Steiert taking second in 2:15.72.
Bennon VanHoof led a Hornet sweep in the 200 individual medley. He won in 2:16.30 with Shane Jackson and Nik Stopsack earning second and third.
Hornet Will Cooper won the 50 freestyle in 24.38 with Panther Eben Sarver right behind at 25.86 and EHS’s Braden Dedrick finishing third in 26.41.
Diving went to the Hornets’ Garrett Hall and Ben Schimming. Hall edging Schimming for the victory, 152.35 to 152.05. Bonney Lake’s Tim Eckhart finished third with 140.95.
The Hornets’ Jackson edged teammate Gabe Sales in a 100 butterfly sweep. Jackson out touched Sales 1:08.57 to 1:08.43. Logan Ross took third in 1:17.24.
Panther Jake Gould won the 100 freestyle with a time of 58.63. EHS’s Petersen was second in 58.73 and Dedrick third in 59.81.
Enumclaw’s Cooper raced away from the field in the 500 freestyle, finishing first in 5:35.94. Bonney Lake’s Steiert was second in 6:03.12.
The Hornets’ 200 freestyle relay added another eight team points with its 1:45.92 victory. Bonney Lake picked up four points for second place in 1:48.48.
Enumclaw also swept the 100 backstroke with Thomas Peterson posting a 1:05.30 winning time. Travis Culp was second and Sales was third.
VanHoof and Ross went 1-2 for Enumclaw in the 100 breaststroke and Enumclaw finished the afternoon by taking first and second in the 400 freestyle relay.
