A 41-year-old Black Diamond man was arrested by King County Sheriff’s detectives June 16 and is being investigated for manslaughter following the death of his mother.
According to Dan Donohoe, spokesman for the King County Prosecutor’s Office, the man is being held in the King County jail.
The man’s 88-year-old mother was found dead in their home in the 27400 block of the S.E. Green River Gorge Road June 16.
Donohoe reported through e-mail a bail hearing was took place June 18 and the, “court set bail at $250,000. The deadline for filing charges is June 22.”
Sheriff’s deputies were called to the home about 1 a.m. June 16 after the man called to say his mother had died. Deputies found the woman in her bed, but she was severely emaciated and about 70 pounds. She had extremely severe open bed sores and bruising.
The son said his mother was not taking any medicines and had not seen a doctor in at least two years.
The sheriff’s office major crimes unit was called to the house to conduct the investigation. The suspect was interviewed again and booked into the King County Jail.
An autopsy was conducted by the Medical Examiner’s Office Wednesday.
