There will be a full docket of activities at this year's Black Diamond Labor Day festivities, which will run Saturday through Monday, offering three days of run, fun and sun.

The fun-filled weekend will commence with the Race for Diabetes. Contestants are to meet at the Diamond Lodge parking lot at 6 a.m. Saturday to register.

That will be followed by a Puget Sound Blood Drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the elementary school drive-through area. At 10 a.m., it will be time for the annual softball game on the school field, which will pit the Black Diamond Fire Department's nine versus players from the community.

All three days, from noon to 4 p.m., the Black Diamond Museum will be offering tours.

Putting a nightcap on the first day's schedule, from 7 to 11 p.m., will be a teen dance at the gym.

Sunday will feature community worship at the Chapelwood Baptist Church on state Route 169, to be followed by a pie-baking contest at 10 a.m. and ensuing children's and women's games, which will initiate at 10:30 a.m. on the school field.

After the games, those interested can stroll around the school field and look over the booths, featuring the work of local artisans, while kids enjoy the large inflatables adjacent to the booths. The booths and inflatables will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sunday's festivities will be topped off with the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the skate board park at 1:30 p.m.

Labor Day will start with a pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Diamond Lodge, to be followed by a parade down SR 169 beginning at 10 a.m. Meanwhile, the Black Diamond Eagles Clubhouse will be the site of the annual barbecue from noon to 1 p.m. and will feature a car show at the same location from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Bridge Band will be playing at the Lake Sawyer Church from noon to 2 p.m. and the festivities will be rounded out with a button raffle drawing at 2:30 p.m. on the school field.
