The city of Enumclaw and Enumclaw Chamber of Commerce are teaming up with the Stars and Stripes Committee for a fun-filled July 4 celebration.
The day begins with a free pancake breakfast at the Enumclaw Senior Activity Center. During the meal, the Enumclaw Rotary Club’s “What it Means to be an American” essay contest winners will be announced.
Doors close at 10 a.m., just in time to send youngsters across the street to the free bike decorating area to get their wheels ready for the parade, which will roll down Cole Street at noon. Parade entries are still being accepted; call the chamber at 360-825-7666 or get an application online at www.cityofenumclaw.net or at the chamber office, 1421 Cole St.
This year’s grand marshal is Charles Berg, who will also be inducted into the city of Enumclaw’s Walk of Fame for his contributions as a local historian and preservationist of the city’s heritage. The ceremony begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Enumclaw Public Library.
The firework display begins at the Expo Center at 9:45 p.m.
