By scoring 11 of the game’s final 14 points, the White River High boys captured a 67-62 Friday night victory over the Clover Park Warriors.
The South Puget Sound League contest was played in the Hornet gymnasium.
Trailing 59-56 with 2:20 showing on the game clock, White River received a bucket from Alex Wallen, who finished with a team-high 18 points. Following a Warrior free throw, Ryan Larsen converted a three-point play and, moments later, added a layin that put his team on top 63-61. The Hornets sealed the victory from the free-throw line, getting two from Wallen and one each from Tyler Meadows and Chris Marmon.
The game had been close all the way, with White River leading 16-14 after one quarter, 33-32 at intermission and 45-44 after three periods of play.
Joining Wallen in double figures were Larsen with 16 and Cameron Cawley with 12. Rounding out the Hornet scoring were Trevor Truax 8 points, Meadows 5, Hunter Mills 4, Ryan Lusk 3 and Marmon 1.
The victory pushed the Hornets to 2-0 in league play and 4-1 overall.
