The Bonney Lake High School girls soccer team got the full range of experience in their first week with an opening day win, a second-match loss and then a tie in their third game.

The Panthers got their season off to a great start Tuesday with a 3-1 non-league victory over Bremerton.

The Bremerton Knights scored first with an unassisted goal in the 11th minute, but that was all they would get.

The Panthers came roaring back in the second half, scoring three unanswered goals to run away with the game.

Madi Adams scored the season’s first goal for Bonney Lake, an unassisted shot in the 54th minute to tie the game.

A minute later, Nate DeLeon took an assist from Brooklyn Gratzer to give the Panthers the lead. In the 79th minute, Ashley Cade put the game away off an assist from Andrea Bowman.

Things did not go as well Thursday against Sumner, a team coach Randy Jones called “the real deal.” The Spartans’ Kaylie Rozell picked up two goals and Ellie Degoede added another as the Panthers fell 3-0 to their cross-district rivals.

With just a single day to rest, the Panthers were back on the pitch Saturday, for a match at Stadium High School in Tacoma.

Bonney Lake’s Cade got things started right for the Panthers, with a goal in the 53rd minute off an assist from Allie Kober. But the Tigers came back, tying the game on an unassisted goal in the 65th minute.

The game ended 1-1, dropping Bonney Lake’s first week record to 1-1-1, all non-league.

The Panthers were scheduled to play Tuesday at Redmond.
