This week, the Pierce County Council will hold its regular Tuesday meeting on Fox Island in the 7th Council District. The county charter directs the council to hold a number of its weekly meetings at various locations throughout the district to give county residents – who may not be able to attend regular meetings in Tacoma – a greater opportunity to participate in their government.
The Oct. 28 meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Nichols Community Center on Fox Island. The address is 690 9th Avenue (click here for a map). Topics scheduled for discussion include adopting a new revised continuity of operations plan, amending the Greater Tacoma Regional Convention Center Public Facilities District charter and the appointment of several citizens to various boards and commissions among other items (subject to change).
“Since the council has been hosting these meetings at various locations around the county, we’ve seen an increase in the number of citizens who are directly participating in their government,” said Council Vice Chair Stan Flemming, who represents the 7th District. “The more people who get involved, the better service county government can deliver. I’m looking forward to seeing many of Fox Island’s residents at the meeting and I hope we continue to see more participation as a result.”
Those unable to attend the meeting can watch it later on PCTV (the county’s television channel), online at www.PierceCountyTV.org the following day or on a mobile device with the new PCTV app.
