Sumner’s girls basketball team won a close 49-42 game against the Bonney Lake Panthers in Wednesday night’s crosstown rivalry match-up.
The Spartans started the night off weak, making five shots against Bonney Lake’s 15 in the first quarter. They gained back ground in the subsequent three quarters coming out ahead 16-11, 11-8 and 17-8.
Brenna Allsop and Jamie Lange were the shooting stars of the night, accumulating 14 points each, almost triple the point contribution of the next highest-scoring teammates.
The team takes on Fife Friday at 7 p.m., at Fife High School.
