The Sumner School District is transforming the traditional Science Fair into a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Fair. This year math activities, more technology and engineering projects will be added. As part of the Fair, the District is hosting a poster artwork contest for students in kindergarten through grade 12. Students enrolled in the Sumner School District are invited to create original artwork that will be used to design a Fair poster and other promotional items.
The artwork should utilize the Fair’s theme “Building STEAM,” and must incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. All entries will be on display at the STEM Fair. The winning student will be acknowledged in all promotional materials and will be awarded a prize at the Fair.
Contest Rules:
All artwork must be original without aid from others.
Artwork must be no larger than 6 x 6 inches.
Entries may be hand-drawn using crayon, paint, ink, colored pencils or markers.
Any electronic artwork must be high resolution and created using a vector format such as EPS, CGM, PICT, and WMF.
Submission must include the student name, school, grade, and teacher name
Judging: Entries will be evaluated based on the following:
1. Artistic Merit (use of color, quality of drawing, poster design & layout)
2. Poster Message (should be promote the Fair)
3. Originality and Creativity (unique, clever and/or creative design)
4. Neatness (free of spelling errors and/or stray marks)
All student entries will be judged equally, regardless of the age/grade of the student. All entries become the property of the Sumner School District. The due date for artwork submission is Friday, December 14, 2012. Entries maybe e-mailed to STEAM2013@edtools.sumnersd.org, or submitted at any school office.
