During a lunchtime ceremony Wednesday, Bonney Lake senior Brianna Fleeman signed her letter of intent to swim at the collegiate level for the University of Idaho.
Fleeman has been swimming competitively since she was 9 years old, she said.
However, she said, due to a busy schedule, Fleeman was unable to swim her final season at Bonney Lake.
Aside from competing as a Vandal, while at school Fleeman plans to major in pre-med for exercise sciences.
She said she later plans to go to medical school to study sports medicine.
Fleeman will be a first generation university student, her mom Kris Fleeman said.
Kris said the family enjoyed the recruiting process but added they are relieved that a decision has been made.
“She is going on to a great D1 program,” Kris said in an email. “We feel confident in U of I’s swim program, academics and coaches to help support her on her journey.”Her mom said the family is most excited to see Brianna start a new step in her life.
“We are thankful that Bonney Lake High School and the University of Idaho recognized (her strengths),” Kris said.
