Sumner High School’s fastpitch softball team takes on Clover Park in a home game at 4 p.m. today.

The Lady Spartans defeated Washington High School 17-3 on Monday.

The Spartans hit a sum five runs per inning for the first three innings, then another two in the fourth. The Patriots made only one run in the second inning and two in the fourth.

Megan Anderson and Allie Sims shared pitching responsibilities, Sims throwing two strike outs and giving up two walks, and Anderson throwing two strike outs and giving up one walk.

Megan Anderson had the best batting performance of the day, making three hits out of three at-bats, four runs batted in, two singles and one triple. Amanda Haines went two-for-four at-bat, had 1-RBI, one double and one single. Sara Heuett went three-for-four at-bat, hit two singles and one double.
