Signature verification progress for two initiatives | Secretary of State

Update on the progress of signature-verification for two initiatives that are widely expected to make the statewide ballot this fall.

The following is from David Ammons, communications director, Office of Secretary of State:

Here is an update on the progress of signature-verification for two initiatives that are widely expected to make the statewide ballot this fall.

They are I-1401, Paul Allen’s measure dealing with trafficking of endangered species/parts, and I-1366, Tim Eyman’s effort to persuade lawmakers to put a constitutional amendment on the 2016 ballot to require a two-thirds vote in both houses of the Legislature to approve taxes.

The I-1401 certification should be ready next week, and will be trailed by I-1366. Since both campaigns submitted large pads above the bare-minimum 246k, they are expected to earn a ballot spot after the random sample check is thoroughly done.

Memo from Sheryl Moss at the State Elections Division:

We now have a total number of signatures for I-1366.  339,236 signatures were submitted and 10,177 random signatures will be checked.  We are currently marking the random signatures on the petition sheets.

Below are current numbers for I-1401. You can find the most current signature check numbers on our website.
