BONNEY LAKE FASTPITCH: Player of the Year goes to Watkins

Bonney Lake High’s Taylor Watkins was named the Sough Puget Sound League 3A’s fastpitch player of the year, heading a list of local players netting postseason honors.

Bonney Lake High’s Taylor Watkins was named the Sough Puget Sound League 3A’s fastpitch player of the year, heading a list of local players netting postseason honors.

Fellow Panthers earning first-team honors were infielder Kim Courneya, outfielder Kayla Wells and catcher Britian Myers. Bonney Lake players named to the second team were infielder Kali Patterson and utility player Sammy Ebner. Earning honorable mention status were Chloe Beal and Courtney Franz.

Sumner Spartans receiving all-league honors were infielder Krysta Beers, second team, and Mandy Humphries, honorable mention.

Taking the league’s other top awards were pitcher of the year Kelli Crawford of Franklin Pierce and coach of the year Mike Hawkins of Lakes High.
