The Friends of the Sumner Library are sponsoring “Remembrance and Sacrifice: A Personal, Firsthand Account of D-Day, June 1944” featuring stories from a living witness to the D-Day invasion that marked the beginning of the end of World War II.
Sumner resident and former Sumner High School principal Bill Heath will discuss his experience landing on Omaha Beach during the D-Day invasion of Normandy, June 1944.
Heath served with the 302nd Brigade as an MP guarding German prisoners of war through late August 1944.
The free event at is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. June 30 at the Sumner Pierce County Library, 1116 Fryar Ave.
