Bonney Lake High’s baseball team defeated Peninsula Tuesday night, 2-0, then themselves fell 7-6 on Saturday.
Tuesday, the Panthers scored runs in the first and third innings with a startlingly low run-to-hit ratio of two to nine.
But it was more than enough to take out the Seahawks, with a luckless nil-to-six ratio.
Michael Gretler was the night’s star at-bat, with three hits and two runs out of four at-bats. Christian Parsons slammed two hits out of three at-bats, and hit one double.
Joey Gamache ruled the pitching mound with six innings pitched. He gave up six hits, no runs, and earned seven strikeouts.
The prior Monday night, the Panthers devastated Enumclaw High School in an 11-1 game at Enumclaw, with an exceptional run-to-hit ratio of 11 to 13.
Dylan Moran made three hits in as many at-bats, and earned two runs.
Nate Potterf pitched five innings. He allowed four hits and one run, and threw one walk, but he made up for it by throwing 10 Seahawk strikeouts.
Saturday, Peninsula frontloaded runs into the opening innings of the game to take an early lead, then clinched it with a final run in the fifth inning. Bonney Lake saw weak run performance in the opening innings—with only two in the third—before ratcheting up their game with four runs in the sixth inning. But it proved too little, too late.
Taiki Green had two runs out of four at-bats, and batted in two runs for the Panthers.
