East Pierce Fire and Rescue firefighters responded to a report that an adult male was pinned between two vehicles along the side of the road at the 20020 block of 12th Street East, near North Tapps Middle School. Firefighters arrived just after 9 a.m. to find that the man’s friend had already moved one of the vehicles, releasing the patient.
East Pierce Battalion Chief Pat Beers said the man’s sport-utility vehicle had broken down along the side of the road. He and his friend were attempting to load the vehicle onto a flat-bed trailer when the SUV rolled, pinning the man.
The patient was transported to a local trauma center with life-threatening injuries.
One lane of 12th Street East remained closed while Pierce County Sherriff’s deputies conducted their investigation.
