• Officers responded to a call of an attempted suicide at 6 a.m. Jan. 1. Officers came to the residence in the 18700 block of Bonney Lake Boulevard and found a 26-year-old man on the floor in the kitchen. The man had cut his wrist with a kitchen knife. The man’s father said his son had been drinking and became depressed. The man had proposed to his girlfriend the night before and she did not give him the answer he hoped for. East Pierce Fire and Rescue emergency personnel took the man to Good Samaritan Hospital.

ATTEMPTED SUICIDE

• Officers responded to a call of an attempted suicide at 6 a.m. Jan. 1. Officers came to the residence in the 18700 block of Bonney Lake Boulevard and found a 26-year-old man on the floor in the kitchen. The man had cut his wrist with a kitchen knife. The man’s father said his son had been drinking and became depressed. The man had proposed to his girlfriend the night before and she did not give him the answer he hoped for. East Pierce Fire and Rescue emergency personnel took the man to Good Samaritan Hospital.

INTENT TO DELIVER

• A 52-year-old man was stopped at 12:20 a.m. Dec. 31 in the 19500 block of state Route 410 and was found to have a suspended license. The man told the officer his license was suspended for child-support enforcement. During a search following the man’s arrest, the officer found an electronic scale in his vest pocket. White powder was found on the scale. The man said a friend had just given him the scale. The officer found $500 in a money clip in his pants pocket. Gunner, the Bonney Lake K-9 narcotic dog, found the scent of drugs near the driver’s seat. The officer found a black leather pouch with zip lock bags of methamphetamine and marijuana, a smoking pipe, a metal spoon, cotton swabs and pills including Oxycodone. The search also revealed a pistol with eight rounds in the magazine. During a check of the money recovered during the search, the bills were found to be counterfeit. The man was booked into the Pierce County jail and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, nine counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana and forgery for counterfeit bills.

MARIJUANA

• A 30-year-old man was arrested and cited for possession of marijuana Dec. 31. The man was standing outside the New Peking near a running car when an officer approached him. The man was found to have a plastic bag of marijuana in his coat pocket. The man was cited and released.

FIGHT

• Officers responded to a report of a fight between 20 people and a stabbing at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 31 in the 10100 block of 218th Avenue East. When officers arrived at the residence they found about 15 people, all uncooperative. A 29-year-old man had a laceration on his hand. He said a man living down the street in a mobile home stabbed him during a fight. When asked to describe the man, he said he could not because he was going to pass out. The officer went to the trailer and talked to the man living there. He said people came down and tried to pick a fight. He said a fight occurred, but no one was stabbed. An investigation continues.

STREET FIGHT

• Officers cited five men and one woman during a large street fight at 11:53 p.m. Dec. 31 in the 21000 block of Church Lake Drive. A New Year’s Eve party with 40 people attending escalated into a fight among very intoxicated people. Dispatch told the officers 20 to 30 people were fighting, all in their teens and early 20s. When officers arrived they found about 20 people involved in the street fight with people on the ground punching and kicking each other. The officers activated their sirens and told the people to lay on the ground and show their hands. Many of the suspects ran, some with torn or missing shirts. The officers pursued some of the running suspects while other officers attempted to control the remaining crowd. One officer went into a driveway in pursuit of a 21-year-old man. When the man saw the officer he fled and the officer ran after him. A second officer assisted and the man was caught and taken into custody. He was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting and booked into the Buckley jail.

A 22-year-old man was caught by officers and told to stop as he tried to run down a driveway. The man was intoxicated and had cuts and scrapes from fighting. The man refused to comply with orders. He swore at the officers and challenged them to shoot him with a Taser. The officers again ordered the man to stop and he refused. An officer shot the man with a Taser. The man pulled the barbs out of his chest and refused to go to the ground. An officer used a Taser a second time and the man fell backward onto the bed of a truck. After the five-second Taser cycle, the man tried to get up again and the Taser was used again. The man was then handcuffed. He was taken to the Bonney Lake Police Department and placed in a holding cell. He became uncooperative and belligerent again. A Taser and pepper spray were used to control him.

Another 22-year-old man resisted the officer and a Taser had to be used on him one time.

About 30 people inside the residence were ordered to come out and sit on the ground. Many of the people resisted and argued with the officers.

The 22-year-old man who rents the residence and hosted the party was cited for disturbing the peace.

Another 21-year-old man was cited for disorderly conduct and a 22-year-old man was cited for obstructing and trespassing. A 22-year-old woman was cited for obstruction. All were booked into the Buckley jail.

DUI

A 27-year-old man was stopped for driving too close to another vehicle at 8 p.m. Dec. 30 in the 21000 block of state Route 410. An officer was traveling on 410 when he spotted the man driving a Ford Bronco at a high rate of speed. The man nearly rear-ended another vehicle. The officer pulled the driver over and noted the man appeared intoxicated. The man admitted he had been drinking. The man failed a field sobriety test and was arrested. The man’s mood swung from crying to being apologetic. The man admitted to driving drunk and said he knew better. The man was cited for driving under the influence and driving too close. The man was booked into the Buckley jail.

POSSESSION

• A 24-year-old man was stopped at 10:47 p.m. Dec. 29 in the 9300 block of Angeline Road. The man was found to have a suspended license. During a search the officer found a marijuana-smoking pipe. The man was cited for driving with a suspended license, no proof of insurance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

ASSAULT

• A 29-year-old man was arrested on the charge of domestic violence and booked into the Buckley jail at 1:55 p.m. Dec. 28. Officers were dispatched to the New Peking restaurant, where the man said his 30-year-old girlfriend had dragged him across the parking lot with their car. He told officers he had opened the driver’s side door and the woman accelerated at a high rate of speed across the parking lot dragging him 10 to 15 feet. The officer noted the man was extremely intoxicated. He said he did not want to press charges. The man said he wanted the officers to take him home and tell his girlfriend not to fight with him. During the conversation the man received a phone call from his girlfriend. The officer heard him tell his girlfriend he did not hit her. Once off the phone, the man denied hitting his girlfriend.

The officers took the man to his residence. The girlfriend came outside the apartment and talked to the officers. She said the man elbowed her in the head. She said she may have dragged him with the car, but said he was grabbing her hair and elbowing her in the face. She told the officers she called her ex-husband and told him the man was hitting her. The ex-husband was contacted by phone and confirmed the conversation to the officer. The man was handcuffed and became angry and yelled at the officers when he was told he was being charged with fourth-degree assault.

ROAD RAGE

• A 22-year-old man reported to police a road rage incident at 4:40 p.m. Dec. 28. The man said a pickup was tailgating him and driving erratically on SR 410 East. The pickup was able to get in front of the man. The driver of the pickup began hitting his brakes. The man drove up beside the pickup and the two began yelling at each other. The driver of the pickup pointed a handgun at the man. Investigation of the case continues.

PERSON FOUND

• An officer investigated two suspicious individuals at 2 a.m. Dec. 26 at Wal-Mart. Employees pointed the two out and one was found to be a 16-year-old boy who had been reported as missing. The boy was taken to his residence and turned over to his mother.

SUMNER

• A resident in the 1600 block of Main Street reported seeing a female steal a statue from his yard Dec. 22. The man had followed the woman. An officer found the woman and questioned her. The woman said she took it because she had a warrant and was trying to get arrested. The officer cited her and told the resident where she dumped the statue.
