BAD CHOICE OF LIES: An office on patrol Aug. 19 stopped a vehicle on state Route 410 for expired tabs. When contacted, the driver said it was his boss’s car and he did not know of the tabs. He also did not have his license with him, but gave the police his name. A records check revealed his license was suspended and there was a $10,000 warrant for his arrest stemming from a charge of driving under the influence. The driver said he did not know about the warrant. The driver was taken to the Buckley jail and booked on charges of driving with a suspended license and the warrant. Police later received a tip the driver had given a false name. A check of the ID of the registered owner showed an individual who looked like the person driving the car and also had warrants for his arrest, a suspended license and an ignition interlock requirement. The charges were dismissed against the original name and charges of providing false statements were added to the new name.

WHAT BAG OF PILLS?: An officer patrolling Allan Yorke Park Aug. 19 observed a male wearing all black in an area that has recently experienced a large number of vehicle prowls. When the officer contacted the individual he asked if he had done anything wrong and the officer said no, but asked for a name. The subject provided an ID card and a record check showed he had an outstanding warrant for use and delivery of drug paraphernalia. Before a search of the backpack he was carrying, the subject admitted to being a “user” and having a needle and a small amount of marijuana in his bag as well as a spoon in his pocket. Police found all three. While speaking with the individual, the officer noticed a small plastic bag containing pills near the individual’s foot. The bag was not there when the contact began and the individual eventually admitted to dropping it because he not want to get caught with it. He also said the pills were OxyContin. he was arrested and transported to the Buckley jail and booked on charges of unlawful posession of a controlled substance as well as unlawful possession of marijuana.

POT: An officer on patrol in the evening of Aug. 20 observed two juveniles walking off the Bonney Lake High School property after hours and contacted them to ask why they were there at that time. The boys said they were cutting through the property on their way home. The officer noticed the smell of marijuana and asked the boys who had it. One of the boys produced a pipe and a bag of marijuana. He was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and released. The other boy was also released.

BURGLARY: Officers on Aug. 9 were dispatched to the 5600 block of 188th Avenue East for a report of a burglary in progress. A neighbor called to report an unknown male and female carrying items out of the house. When police arrived, they noticed the kitchen window broken and the house unsecure. Police entered and conducted a search, noting a television appeared to be missing. Police contacted the owner who said a laptop computer was also missing. The owner provided suspect information and police are investigating.

NO ID: Police on patrol Aug. 12 observed a car weaving between lanes on state Route 410 and pulled it over. The driver had no identification and spoke very little english but wrote her name down for the officer. A records check showed she had an instruction permit. A friend was called to help translate and explained that the driver was weaving because of leg cramps. The driver was charged with no valid operator’s license, weaving between lanes, and failure to provide proof of insurance.

BUSTED: Police on the night of Aug. 12 were dispatched to the 18000 block of 107th Avenue for a report of a juvenile party taking place in a vacant house. As police arrived they could see teens in the house and four outside, one of whom ran away as police arrived. While in the backyard, numerous juveniles began fleeing the residence. Officers detained many and ordered them to the ground, though several fled into neighboring yards. As police entered the residence, they witnessed many juveniles tossing away beer cans and trying to hide. In total, 46 juveniles were detained and no one was found to be over the age of 21. A large amount of alcohol was also found, as were bottles of liquor and a “beer pong” table. The house also smelled of burnt marijuana. The juvenile hosting the party was located and he admitted his parents, who had moved from the house, did not know of the party. He was also found to be intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with minor in possession and furnishing to minors. Another party goer was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Both were transported to Buckley Jail.

BAD DECISION: Police on Aug. 13 responded to a possible fight in the 20900 block of state Route 410. When police arrived the two suspects were arguing. According to the report, one man had volunteered to give the other a ride home after an altercation in Babalouie’s. The man was told to leave but “decided it was a good time to start to argue” with the police. The suspect refused to leave and shouted an obscenity approximately 30 times and then deliberately threw a handful of paper on the ground and refused to pick it up. He was arrested for disorderly conduct and littering and transported to the Buckley jail.

DOPE: Police on patrol Aug. 14 noticed a suspiciously parked vehicle in the 21300 block of 64th Street East. When the officer turned around, the vehicle pulled off. The officer pulled over the vehicle. Upon contact, the officer noticed the smell of burnt marijuana. The driver was arrested and admitted to smoking marijuana off of a soda can before visiting a friend and consented to a search. Police found the soda can under the driver’s seat. The driver was cited for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and released.

FALSE INFO: n officer on patrol ran the plate of a vehicle headed north on West Tapps Highway and discovered the registered owner to have a status of driving with a suspended license. The driver said he was not the registered owner and did not have his license on him. Police note he was sweating profusely and could not look at the officers. He gave police a name, which returned “no computer record” before he confessed to giving police a false name, which also returned a driving with license suspended status. He was arrested and charged with dwls and providing false information.

THEFT: Police on Aug. 18 were called to the Cedar Ridge Retirement facility for a report that a Wii gaming system was stolen from a third-floor TV room. Police are investigating.

PROWL: Police on Aug. 19 were dispatched to the Fred Meyer Parking lot for a report of a vehicle prowl. the reporting party said he returned to his vehicle to find a window pulled out and his Blackberry and GPS missing. He also received a call about his bank account being used. Police are investigating.

STOLEN: Police on Aug. 21 took a report from a resident in the 18700 block of McGhee drive regarding the theft of a pressure washer valued at $350 from a locked shed. Police are investigating.

SHOPLIFTING: Police on Aug. 21 were dispatched to Target for a report of a shoplifter. Store employees saw the female suspect place items under her short and leave without paying. She then placed the items in her car and returned to the store. Police located the suspect in the store and asked if she had placed items in her car without paying. She admitted she had and was placed under arrest. She was cited for theft and released.

ATTEMPTED THEFT: Police were dispatched to a construction site in the 22500 block of state Route 410 for a report of an attempted theft of a dump truck. The door lock of the truck was broken and the ignition punched out. Police are investigating.
