Reminder: Expect significant delays on SR 162 near Orting this weekend | Department of Transportation

Drivers on State Route 162 near Orting are advised to plan ahead for up to 30-minute delays while crews connect the highway to a new bridge over the Puyallup River. From 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, through 4 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, a portion of SR 162 will be reduced to one-way alternating traffic with flaggers.

Drivers on State Route 162 near Orting are advised to plan ahead for up to 30-minute delays while crews connect the highway to a new bridge over the Puyallup River.

 

From 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, through 4 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, a portion of SR 162 will be reduced to one-way alternating traffic with flaggers. During those same times, the Foothills McMillin Trailhead parking lot also will close. The trail itself will remain open. The work is weather dependent and could be rescheduled to a later date.

 

WSDOT needs help from drivers

  • Add extra time
  • Consider eliminating discretionary trips.
  • Travel early in the morning or later at night
