Track: Sumner’s Rodriguez wins javelin at Tacoma Invitational

The SHS boys finished in 14 place with 22 points and the girls group tied Mount Tahoma for 19th by amassing 14 points.

Sumner’s Seth Rodriguez tossed the javelin 173 feet, 1 inch to take home the gold, owning the furthest throw by nearly 10 feet.

Pole vaulter Kevin Johnson launched himself over the bar at 11-3 to take third and shot put artist Alex Griffith threw 47-0 for fourth place.

The Spartan girls kept the distance tradition alive as Ashlee Sincraugh finished 1.5 seconds off the pace with a time of 26.92 seconds, good for a sixth place. Sincraugh also ran in the 1,600-meter relay team that was made up of herself, Lauren Bulzomi, Tessa Hansen and Leah DeDominces which took fourth with a clocking of 4:12.05.

Sophomore Michaela Trulson cleared 7-3 for a fourth place finish in the pole vault.
