TWICE THE SPEED LIMIT: On May 30 officers saw a car traveling 80 mph down SR 410. Officers eventually caught up to the car when it was forced to slow down due to traffic. After pulling the car over, officers smelled stale intoxicants coming form the car, but the male driver denied drinking or smoking. The driver did not have insurance for the car. Suspecting the driver was intoxicated, officers performed a preliminary breath test, which came out below the legal limit. The driver was cited for negligent driving.
ROLLOVER COLLISION: Officers received a report of a rollover collision on May 31. Officers arrived to see East Pierce Fire and Rescue providing treatment. Officers examined the scene and determined a vehicle was driving over the speed limit and did not stop at a stop sign. Officers had difficulty determining who was driving the vehicle that caused the collision because a female passenger insisted she was the driver instead of the male who was in the car. Once officers determined the male was the driver, officers issued the woman a citation for providing a false statement and the male citations for reckless driving, no proof of insurance, failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to yield the right of way.
