Fall is officially here and Sumner is celebrating with a day and evening of activities Saturday.
The festivities begin at 10 a.m. with the Scarecrow Celebration Contest, which goes until 5 p.m.
Sumner Downtown Association Director Arla Holschuh said scarecrows are on display at different businesses along the street and people can vote for their favorite.
After the scarecrow contest the ninth annual Autumn Evening celebration starts at 5 and concludes at 8 p.m. The Autumn Evening entertainment is provided by the Dancing Scarecrows while residents partake in late-evening shopping.
Last year’s Autumn Evening drew more than 900 visitors.
Main Street will be closed to vehicles from 4 to 8:30 p.m.; free parking can be found behind Main Street and on side streets.
