Free soil fertilizer available in Sumner

Sumner residents are offered the chance to obtain free soil fertilizer for their lawns and gardens.

The soil, being offered through the Sumner Bonney Lake Wastewater Treatment Facility, and is an alternative to using chemicals in the gardening and lawn process, according to the facility.

The humus is not harmful to pets and children and treats soil in a number of ways.

It loosens hard soil, increases fertilizer uptake, develops improved root systems, results in healthier plants, increases water capacity in the soil, and enriches the soil web, according to the treatment facility.

The fertilizer may be picked up at the wastewater treatment facility at any time.

People can pick up a bucketful of the soil, if they bring their own bucket. Shovels are provided at the site.

A driver may drive their pickup truck to the facility and fill up the back or people with a great need for the fertilizer may request a free dump-truck load. The dump-truck load is an amount of 10 yards and is recommended for people with at least five acres to cover.
