Police release sketch of suspect in Monday’s drive-by shooting in Sumner

Two people were injured Monday in an early morning drive-by shooting that occurred on state Route 167 in Sumner, near the intersection of state Route 410.

Washington State Police have released a sketch of suspect in an alleged road rage incident Monday on state Route 167 in Sumner.

Two people were injured in an early morning drive-by shooting that occurred on SR167 in Sumner, near the intersection of state Route 410.

Police are searching for a black, late model Mazda 6 believed to be involved in the incident.

According to a press release from the Washington State Police, two vehicles were traveling south on state Route 167 at approximately 2 a.m. when the suspect vehicle drove up from behind and passed the victim vehicle in the left inside shoulder narrowly avoiding a collision. The victim vehicle began to exit from state Route 167 to state Route 410 toward Sumner.

The driver of the suspect vehicle then rolled down the passenger side window and fired a single shot at the victim vehicle.

The bullet entered the victim vehicle in the left rear passenger side door striking an 18-year-old male in the forearm. The bullet continued through the right front passenger seat striking a 17-year-old female in the back.

Neither victim was seriously injured. They were treated and later released from a local hospital.

The suspect driver continued south on state Route 167 and police are asking for your help locating him. The suspect vehicle is a black newer model Mazda 6, most likely in the 2009-2011 year range.

The driver was a white male with dark hair and no facial hair.
