PURSE SNATCHING
• A 72-year-old woman reported to police at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 15 her purse was taken while shopping at Wal-Mart. The woman told the officer she was shopping in the cheese aisle and her purse was in the child seat of the shopping cart. The woman said she turned away and when she turned back her purse was gone. The woman and her friends looked down the aisles but could not find a suspect. The case is under investigation.
ASSAULT
• A 39-year-old man was arrested at 8:30 p.m. Nov. 15 for domestic violence assault, fourth degree. Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of the Cold Stone Creamery. A woman had called 911 and asked for help. When the officers contacted the 38-year-old woman she was sitting in the passenger seat of a pickup crying. The woman said she and her boyfriend of 10 years had been arguing about breaking up. The woman said the man choked her and grabbed her. The man was booked into the Buckley jail.
ACCIDENT
• Officers responded to a single-car accident in the 20800 block of 60th Street East at 1 p.m. Nov. 18. When they arrived they found a black Volkswagen Jetta next to a telephone pole with a 23-year-old woman in the driver’s seat. The officers noted there were four mailboxes and a stop sign broken at the base. The woman told the officers she had been texting. When asked, she said she had one drink before driving. The officers noted she had bloodshot and watery eyes and slurred speech. She told the officers she had been at the New Peking. After a field sobriety test and breath test on the scene the woman was arrested for driving under the influence and booked into the Enumclaw jail. She was also issued an infraction for driving with wheels off the road, no proof of insurance and texting while driving.
FIGHT
• Two men were arrested for disorderly conduct following a fight in the alley behind the Diamond Lounge Nov. 13. When officers arrived witnesses pointed out a 33-year-old man and a 22-year-old man as the two who were fighting. The men had gone outside after drinking in the lounge and began fighting. The two were booked into the Buckley jail.
MARIJUANA
Officers arrested a 39-year-old man at 5:10 p.m. Nov. 14 for driving with a suspended license, failure to transfer a vehicle title, possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana and an outstanding warrant from Orting. The officer stopped the man driving a blue Thunderbird in the 19100 block of state Route 410 East. A background check revealed the man’s license was suspended. During a search of the car the officers found a pipe and a prescription bottle of marijuana. The man was booked into the Buckley jail.
PHONE THREATS
• A 25-year-old woman called to report threatening text messages she received from her 50-year-old ex-boyfriend Nov. 16. She told the officer she feared for her safety and the safety of her child. She told the officer she had been with the man for three years. The woman showed the officers text messages where the man threatened to take a lead bat to her friends and smash their skulls. He threatened to hunt the woman and her friends down and leave the room a bloody mess. The officer told the woman how to obtain a restraining order against the man. She told the officer she thought the man was currently living in California.
RECKLESS DRIVING
• An officer observed a 24-year-old man riding a motorcycle traveling in excess of 80 mph in a 25 mph zone on Bonney Lake Boulevard and 181st Avenue East at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 17. The rider had just been at the municipal court and was upset his case had not been heard and he was worried about being late for work. Infractions for driving with a suspended license and reckless driving were mailed to the man.
BURGLARY
• A 22-year-old man reported an unknown person had kicked in the front door of his apartment and stole a 42-inch plasma TV and a laptop computer between about 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Nov. 18 in the 7300 block of 207th Avenue East. The man’s brother, who lives in the apartment next door, saw the man’s front door had been forced open. The case is under investigation.
SUMNER
DUI
• Officers responded to a one-car collision in the 5100 block of Parker Road Nov. 14. The female driver and her child were standing outside the car and reported no injuries. The officer saw a row of mailboxes that had been hit and tire tracks going in and out of a ditch. He asked the driver what happened and she first said she didn’t understand the question, then said she didn’t know and finally said she didn’t think she had hit anything. The officer noticed the smell of alcohol. Following a field sobriety test and breath test, the woman was arrested for driving under the influence. Her husband arrived at the scene on a bicycle and walked the child home.
CAR ALARM
• A resident reported his car alarm went off and he saw two males fleeing the area Nov. 17. Officers conducted a search and heard movement behind a nearby church. One juvenile boy came out from behind, riding a bike, and another was found climbing the fence from the church. Officers detained both and each claimed the other had opened the car door. Both were booked into Remann Hall.
ROLLOVER
• Officers responded at 1:40 p.m. Nov. 19 to a rollover accident at Alder and Main. The driver was out of the car and declined medical aid. It appeared he had hit the back of a parked Corvette. The driver said he fell asleep at the wheel, but officers noticed the odor of intoxicants. When inquiring about drinking, the driver answered that he drank 18 beers the night before. His breath test was well above the limit and he was arrested for driving under the influence.
