The Bonney Lake Panther Band Alliance is hosting the Harlem Wizards at 7 p.m. The Wizards will play an exhibition game against “The Panther ELITE!”

The Bonney Lake Panther Band Alliance is hosting the Harlem Wizards at 7 p.m.

The Wizards will play an exhibition game against “The Panther ELITE!”

The ELITE are made up of prominent community members and Sumner School District employees.

This year’s roster includes Bonney Lake Mayor Neil Johnson, Bonney Lake Police Chief Dana Powers as well as some Bonney Lake and Sumner coaches, athletic directors and band directors.

Tickets can be purchased in advanced online at http://tinyurl.com/BLHSWizards or at various locations in Bonney Lake and Buckley.

Adults are $12 and students are $10.

At the door, adults are $15 and students are $12.

The fundraiser will be played in the gym at Bonney Lake High School.

At the Bonney Lake Library join Carolyn Driedger with the United States Geological Survey Cascades Volcano Observatory and Orting Fire Chief Zane Gibson as they share stories starting at 7 p.m.

They will discuss their visit to Colombia’s Nevado del Ruiz volcano and the lessons they learned for those who live close to Mount Rainier.

This event is for adults and requires no registration.

‘Living with Volcanoes’ is sponsored by the Pierce County Department of Emergency Management Education Division.

Monday, May 12

The Sumner Pierce County Library is inviting community members to watch movies starting at 6 p.m.

After the movies, people are welcome to share their ideas in a discussion of thought-provoking conversation.

This event is free.

Tuesday, May 13

The Bonney Lake City Council is holding a public hearing at 7 p.m.

During the council meeting, the public is welcome to voice their opinion on the marijuana moratorium on recreational marijuana.

Medical marijuana dispensaries were already banned in Bonney Lake, City Administrator Don Morrison said.

City council meetings are held at the Bonney Lake Justice & Municipal Center, 9002 Main Street East.
