The Spartan grapplers traveled to Tumwater Dec. 18 and 19 where they participated in the 11-team Pat Alexander Tournament and finished fourth.

Zach Wooding took the gold in his 145-pound weight classification.

Also, going all the way to the championship bout was freshman 103-pounder Travis Filleau, who was narrowly defeated to finish second.

Finishing third meanwhile were 130-pound Jed Schliesman, 135-pound Jeremy Jackson, 160-pound Jared Schliesman and 171-pounder Matthew Wilson.

Additionally, first-year SHS wrestling coach Matthew Harshman had his mat men competing in a four-team invitational at Enumclaw Thursday where the Spartans gave up matches to Kentwood and Kentridge.
