Spartans defeat Kingston Buccaneers 4-1, move on to Elite Eight | Sumner Girls Soccer

The team takes on Archbishop Murphy Saturday at Sunset Chev Stadium. The game begins at 2 p.m.

Sumner’s girls soccer team defeated the Kingston Buccaneers in the first round of the WIAA State 2A championship.

The Spartans took the lead early on, with Alyssa Murray and Kaylie Rozell knocking in two unassisted goals before six minutes had passed. Rozell shot a third goal in the second half before Kingston was able to bring one home for themselves. Rachel Stowell finished the night, scoring at the 75-minute mark.

The Spartans are now among the top eight contenders for the state championship. The team takes on Archbishop Murphy Saturday at Sunset Chev Stadium. The game begins at 2 p.m.

The girls soccer team has gone undefeated for an entire season, but the Wildcats may prove to be a a tough opponent. They sit at the top of the Cascade League 2A, went 14-0-0 in their regular season and 20-0-0 overall.
