A free dance class for children ages 5 to 8 began Wednesday at Rainier View Park in Sumner.

The class is the idea of 7-year-old Kaleb Elverston, who told his mother he enjoyed taking dance classes, but thought he’d like his own more.

On the first day, Kaleb and classmates grooved to hits by Lady Gaga, The Black Eyed Peas and Michael Jackson while family members watched.

Julie Elverston said her son Kaleb practices at home while watching music videos.

Kaleb’s Groovin Dance Class, as it’s formally titled, runs through the summer from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesdays.
