The Panthers boys swim team lost to Lakes 119-66 Tuesday.

The Bonney Lake boys swam competitively, but it wasn’t enough to beat Lakes, coach Jay Paulson said.

Skylar Livingston, Josh Weaver, Ryan Engledow and Nathan Hurst qualified for district with their 200 medley relay win.

Engledow also won the 100 butterfly with a district qualifying time and Weaver won the 100 breast stroke.

Scott Jackson won his event in dive.

Engledow was arguably the best swimmer of the day, Paulson said. He qualified for district in each of his events and set a new varsity record in the 100 butterfly.

Everyone is performing well and showing improvements, he said.

Qualifying for districts at this stage will allow the boys to relax a little and not push themselves too hard, he said.

On Thursday, Bonney Lake also lost to Enumclaw 114-66.

The Panthers next meet is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7., Bonney Lake will travel to Decatur.
